A little rock-n-roll love for animals in Philadelphia

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Then look no further! 93.3 WMMR is hosting "Pierre's Cosmic Caring for Pets." This event will benefit P.A.W.S (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society).

Pierre Robert is one of WMMR's colorful DJ's who airs weekdays from 10AM - 3PM. Not only a fan of Pink Floyd, this rocker is doing his part to help support the local animal society by soliciting for donations such as paper towels, trash bags, bleach, laundry detergent, cat/dog food, cat litter and cash.

To participate, visit the Oxford Valley Mall on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11 AM to 3 PM. For more details, visit WMMR's site at http://www.wmmr.com/events/Details.aspx?ID=181409.

Affordable Pet Supplies

In these rough economical times, saving every penny you can makes a big difference to your bottom line. But what about when it comes to your pets? Many large pet store chains do not offer the best bang for your buck, and local shops are often raising their prices to combat the current fiscal fall out. Here are a few tips from Nice Dog Rescue to help your wallet without skimping out on Fido:

Jeffers Pet: An exceptional resource, Jeffers is often use by vets for wholesale products. They offer a great selection for minimal prices.

Revival: Another online & catalog store, Revival offers fantastic deals through email. Just sign up for their newsletter, and receive 10% or more off your purchase.

Purina: Not only does this major pet food brand share insightful tips and stories on their site, but they also provide viewers with coupons and discounts.

Do you have a great cost-cutting tip? Post your comments below and share the wealth.

A note from our friends at Grey2K USA...

Dear Friends,Ebro dog

Today we bring the terrible news that nearly forty greyhounds have been found abandoned and many starved to death at Ebro Greyhound Park in Florida. Their “trainer,” Ronald John Williams was charged with 37 counts of felony animal cruelty over the weekend. Since then, more dead dogs may have been found at his home.

Please read the stories posted below and join us in demanding justice for the Ebro dogs. Ask Washington County prosecutor Erin Oliver to pursue the strongest penalties available under the law. Click here to read a sample letter and then please send your own thoughts to:

Ebro dogIt is shocking that innocent greyhounds are made to suffer like this. Join us in demanding punishment for this latest example of greyhound abuse, and please donate to our campaigns to end dog racing in Florida and nationwide. It’s time to stop this cruelty once and for all.
